AMD has expanded its Ryzen 3000 lineup of CPUs by introducing three new desktop processors – the Ryzen 5 3600XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and Ryzen 9 3900XT. The company officially announced these CPUs through a press release as well as on various social media platforms.
AMD Ryzen 3000XT CPUs – Ryzen 5 3600XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and Ryzen 9 3900XT
AMD’s Ryzen 3000XT CPUs are slightly better versions of the existing CPUs thanks to manufacturing process optimizations. The Ryzen 9 3900XT is an improved version of the Ryzen 9 3900X, Ryzen 7 3800XT of Ryzen 7 3800X, and Ryzen 5 3600XT of Ryzen 5 3600X. They are based on 7nm and utilize the same ZEN 2 architecture as the rest of the Ryzen 3000 Series CPUs. These new processors feature slightly higher boost clocks as compared to their only-X counterparts. The rest of their specifications, including base clocks, TDP, and cores, are the same as of the existing models.
AMD has introduced the XT branding for the first time in its CPU portfolio with the launch of these three desktop processors. It is present in its Navi-based GPUs, while the existing 3rd Gen CPUs only use the X branding (Ryzen 5 3600X, Ryzen 7 3700X and 3800X, and Ryzen 9 3900X and 3950X).
AMD Ryzen 3900XT, 3800XT, 3600XT – Specifications/Performance Improvements
The performance improvement of these new 3000XT processors is not significant as most of their specifications are the same. They have received only slight bumps in their boost clocks. The Ryzen 5 3600XT and Ryzen 9 3900XT CPUs have a 100MHz higher boost clock as compared to their X variants, while the boost clock of Ryzen 7 3800XT is 200MHz higher. AMD claims a performance improvement of up to a 4% increase in single-threaded performance. Existing owners of Ryzen CPUs may not have to worry about missing out on significant performance gains.

AMD’s Ryzen 5 3600XT will come with a Wraith Spire cooler, but there are no coolers provided for Ryzen 7 3800XT and Ryzen 9 3900XT. Instead, the company is recommending 280mm or higher AIOs for the high-end processors to maximize performance.
AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and Ryzen 5 3600XT – Prices
AMD has priced the new 3000XT CPUs the same as the existing X variants of the CPU were at launch. The Ryzen 9 3900XT CPU will cost $499, Ryzen 7 3800XT carries a price tag of $399, and Ryzen 5 3600XT has an MSRP of $249. The company may lower the prices of the existing models. AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900X was launched at $499 but is currently selling for around $410, including the discount offered after the launch of Intel’s Comet Lake desktop CPUs. It will make the Ryzen 7 3800XT an interesting proposition as buyers can get a 12-core, 24-thread CPU for slightly more. Similar price cuts can be expected on the 3800X and 3600X variants.
AMD B550 Motherboards Available for Purchase, A520 Announced
The announcement of the Ryzen 3000 XT CPUs accompanies B550 motherboards, which are available for purchase from today. AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and Ryzen 5 3600XT will hit store shelves on the 7th of July, exactly one year after AMD 3000 Series launched. AMD also announced its budget-oriented A520 motherboards slated to launch in August 2020.
